Dual Diameter Design

The use of two carefully selected wheel sizes allowed us to create a high-stiffness, low ride height structure that optimizes the performance of the frame+wheel system.  Ride height is established by the three inner 76 mm wheels.  The end result is a mass efficient frame that enables you to push the limits of skating expression. More design details can be found in the section below.

Arc Rocker

A 5-wheel frame is capable of a more nuanced rocker experience than a 4-wheel frame due to the additional pivot point. The default Arc rocker is smooth and continous and gives you just the right balance of maneuverability and stability. It feels especially good for wizard and urban skating styles.

Multiple Configurations

Special two-position Configuration/Rocker Axles are used for the outer wheels. These high-strength steel axles serve a dual purpose.  The provided Black axles configure the frame for either 80 or 84 mm wheels on the outside. Optional Silver Axles configure the outer wheels to have increased levels of rocker.

165 and UFS Mount

Arc is available for popular 165 and UFS boots like FR Skates FR1, Rollerblade Twister XT, Seba SX/CJ, Seba SX2/CJ2, and THEM 909.

The 165 version has a unique system of mounting slots that allows you to perfectly center the frame on many popular boots including those from FR, Rollerblade, and Adapt.

Two Optimized Frame Sizes

Two wheel spacing / length options optimize performance for a range of boot sizes without getting unwieldy.

• Arc for size 38-43
• Arc ES for size 44-47

Overall length is similar to a 4x100 setup. Arc and Arc ES have wheel spacings equivalent to 5x76 and 5x80 respectively.

Flexible Wheel and Rocker Configurations

Larger Outer Wheels
Larger 84 or 80 mm outer wheels enhance speed and facilitate heel and toe tricks with more contact area.  Choosing 84 mm will give you more speed and the most one-wheeled stability.
Smaller Inner Wheels

Smaller 76 mm inner wheels provide a low ride height for control and provide excellent acceleration for quick changes in direction.

Configuration/Rocker Axles

The special Configuration/Rocker Axles we use allow either 84 mm or 80 mm wheels to be used for the outer wheels to best match your skating style or budget. This gives you a wide selection of wheels no matter what your geographic location or supply situation.

Enhanced Rocker Options

Using special axles on the outer wheels allows the amount of rocker to be customized when 80 mm wheels are fitted. You can achieve two levels of enhanced rocker to best suit your skating style.  Orienting the dot up on the optional Silver Rocker Axles gives you more rocker.

Balanced Wheel Wear

The two wheel diameters were chosen to promote an even wear pattern that will not disrupt the default rocker.

High-Stiffness Structural Design

Our designer drew upon decades of aerospace structural design experience to create a very rigid frame to carry load between the wheels and boot without unwanted flex that often compromises performance.  This unmatched stiffness-to-weight ratio means precise control, more effortless execution of movements, and faster sustained cruising speeds.

Efficient Use of Mass for Structure

The Arc design uses mass efficiently to fine-tune the stiffness required for exceptional responsiveness.  Most of this mass is kept as close as possible to the base of the foot to minimize moments of inertia.  As a result Arc and Arc ES frames are 80-90 grams lighter than other 5-wheel frame options and are very agile.

Intentional Wheel Selection

Careful selection of wheel sizes with greater hub-to-urethane ratios means less mass is wasted on wheels. For example, an 84 mm Hydrogen wheel weighs 8 grams less than an 80 mm Hydrogen wheel.  The  combined complement of 84 mm and 76 mm wheels translates into more control and speed.

 120+ grams Total Weight Savings

When comparing total weights to complete competitor setups including wheels (5x80) there can be as much as  a total 120-140 grams weight savings for each skate.  That's a very noticeable amount of mass when it's hanging at the end of your foot.  This overall weight savings translates directly into how well you will skate.

Wheel options

It was important that we provide good options for both bullet profile and round profile wheel sets to suit your personal preference.

Endless (bullet), Rollerblade Hydrogen (bullet) and FR Street Invader (round) wheels are available in our store with and without bearings and spacers.

Need more rocker?

We designed the default Arc rocker to provide a finely-tuned continuous rocker experience that feels great for both swively tricks and for cruising an urban landscape. However, for those that like to push the boundaries of what's possible, we've got you covered.

The optional silver Deluxe Rocker Axle Kit can be used with outer 80 mm wheels to configure two additional levels of increased rocker for extra maneuverability.  Go wild and mix Silver and Black axles for asymmetric rockers.

FAQ

  1. Can I use this frame for wizard skating?
Most definitely.  Arc is designed for you to swivel your heart out with the highest level of responsiveness.
  2. Can I use this frame for urban skating?
Yes!  The innovative structural design of Arc means faster speeds, better impact shock peformance, and bomb-proof strength.  It will withstand whatever urban punishment you can throw at it.
  3. Which boots do you recommend for Arc?
For UFS mounting we recommend the Seba SX/CJ (carbon) or Seba SX2/CJ2 (plastic).  For 165 mounting we recommend the carbon slalom boots with supportive cuffs, FR Skates FR1, or the Rollerblade Twister XT/Edge.  The new Iqon UFS and 165 boots also look promising, but we have yet to try them.  For any setup with a removeable liner, we highly recommend an Intuition liner (v2, FR, or Premium) for the absolute best performane.
  4. I want a 5x80 frame.  Which frame do I get?
We recommend choosing Arc frames based on your boot size:

Arc: for sizes 38-43 (equivalent to 5x76 wheel spacing and length)
Arc ES: for sizes 44-47 (equivalent to 5x80 wheel spacing and length)
  5. How do I choose between 80 and 84 mm wheels?
If you think you might want to explore enhanced rocker options and/or care less about heel/toe tricks we recommend 80 mm and the optional Deluxe Rocker Axles.  If you like greater speed or want to focus on your heel/toe tricks then choose 84 mm.
  6. Can I mix and match wheel profiles?
For the best rocker experience we highly recommend that all five wheels have identical profiles.  If the outer wheels are bullet profile then the inner wheels must be bullet profile.  If the outer wheels are round profile, then the inner wheels must be round profile.  During testing we found that mismatched profiles caused the rocker to feel unpredictable.  Not every wheel brand offers the same profiles in all wheel sizes, so we have curated a selection of Street Invader and Hydrogen wheels in our store for your convenience.

    Recommended wheels:

Round profile wheels: FR/Seba Street Invaders 76, 80, 84 mm

Bullet profile wheels: Rollerblade Hydrogen 76, 80, 84 mm; Endless UC 84 mm; FR Junk Freestyle 76 mm, 80 mm; Junk Voodoo Pro 80, 84 mm
  7. Will there be a Trinity version?
We hope to make Arc available for Trinity in 2023.  If this is something that interests you send us a note and let us know.
